    DIPHTHERIA: ( also got vaccined against this!! hahaha.)
    upper respiratory tract illness characterized by sore throat, low-grade fever, and an adherent membrane( a pseudomembrane) on the tonsil(s), pharynx, and/or nose.
    Diphtheria is a highly contagious disease spread by direct physical contact or breathing the aerosolized secretions of infected individual.

    HISTORY:
    named in 1826 by French physician Pierre Bretonneau. The name alludes to the leather, sheath-like membrane that grows on the tonsils, throat, and in the nose.

    SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS:
    The respiratory form has an incubation period of 2-5 days. The onset of disease is usually gradual. symptoms include fatigue, fever, a mild sore throat and problems swallowing. Children infected have symptoms that include nausea, vomiting, chills, and a high fever, although some do not show symptoms until the infection has progressed further. In 10% of cases, patients experience neck swelling. These cases are associated with a higher risk of death.

    TREATMENT:
    The disease may remain manageable, but in more severe cases, lymph nodes in the neck may swell, and breathing and swallowing will be more diffiuclt. People in this stage should seek immediate medical attention, as obstruction in the throat may require intubation or a tracheotomy. In addition, an increase in heart rate may cause cardiac arrest.
    diphtheria anti-toxin is used.

    so yea, that's diphtheria. hahaha. pretty interesting. ahahah. so went to church today and it's PALM SUNDAY!! hhahaha. so the service finished early and i went with my mom and genelle to IGA to go and buy some stuff and i stocked up on the museli bars. hahahaha. so yea.
    wells.....that's probably the most interesting thing that's gonna be happening today. the shed would be finished tomorrow and somemore of our stuff is coming on tuesday. hahaha. so yea....
    not to mention our PIANO IS ALSO COMING ON TUESDAY!!! hahahhaa. i'm so happy coz then i can get some serious piano practising done. haahaha. well....should be going to eat lunch soon. hahaha. hungry hungry hungry...
